NovaMail is currently not working, due to a change in the Villanova Webmail website.
The extension was dependent upon a part on the Villanova website. That part of the website was changed apparently due to too much traffic going through their servers.
In the next full version of NovaMail I am going to implement these features:
1. Secure authentication to the Villanova Webmail server.*
2. When you receive a new email, the title and sender of the email will be shown.
If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
*Currently, when you log into your email on Villanova's Webmail, your username and password are sent to the server unencrypted. This means that your username / password are vulnerable to network sniffing when you log on. I have alerted Villanova's website administrator about this over six months ago, I am told it is "being worked on."
A new NovaMail version has been released. This will be the final version for now. Added a bunch of new stuff, the change log can be see on the NovaMail Addon Page
Also NovaMail has recently been mentioned on the Villanova Computer Science department website.
Install Add On Now - NovaMail is now hosted on Mozilla's website, however it is not yet publicly avaliable, so sign up and get some downloads on it so it can be! Thank you. If you want to get NovaMail without downloading, click the download link
Here is the 1.2 version of Novamail Firefox Extension. Here is our spec sheet.
Here is the 1.1 version of our Novamail Firefox Extension. To install, open the file with Firefox. This extension is currently unsigned and still in the development process. The 1.1 version is the first post-prototype version of this client. It is still in a beta release. Also added a download page, and from now on the releases will be updated there.
Here is the 0.1 version of our Novamail Firefox Extension. If you want to look at the source code, download the .xpi file and change the extension to a .zip.
Here is our Software Requirement Specification.
We have updated our Project Information page. You can find the link to it on the top of this page or by clicking here.
We have recently researched and developed a prototype for base functionality for our application. This base functionality is written in Java, and uses HTTP requests to retrieve the required information from the Villanova webmail. The code for this prototype can be found here.
Our project proposal is completed and can be found here
Here is a picture of what we are planning on our final product to look like.
We have successfully chosen a project topic, and we are going with choice number 1, a Firefox extension that checks Villanova Webmail.
Welcome to Team Awesome's CSC 4700 Project Page. We currently have not selected a project topic that we want to do, these are the three projects that we have been brainstorming.
1. Firefox Villanova webmail checking plug-in with custom "ding!"
2. AIM chat bot definition builder
3. Game (maybe?)
We will let you know when we choose!
